As the Fiji Meteorological Service has issued a heavy rain warning for the entire Fiji group, the Fiji Police Force is urging Fijians to follow the weather advisories closely and be mindful of their safety.

Chief of Operations ACP Abdul Khan says officers are on alert to the possible impacts of the current weather spell which include flash flooding of low-lying areas, localized flooding of iris crossings and informal settlements, and poor visibility.

He says drivers must take all necessary precautions and pedestrians are also urged to play their part and be mindful of their safety.

Khan is also urging mariners to monitor the developments in the weather situation.

He says they are continuing to stress to parents and guardians the importance of monitoring and supervising children at home for the day and not allowing them to swim in flooded areas or rivers and creeks.

Khan says parents must ensure they are home and well-supervised throughout the day.
