Police looking at new options like destroying marijuana through spraying - Qiliho

Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho.

Police Commissioner, Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho says they want to eradicate the cultivation of marijuana in places like Kadavu, Navosa and Vanua Levu, and they are looking at new options like destroying the drugs through spraying.

Qiliho says they had always expected the marijuana farmers to counter the measures put in by Police, and they knew drone jammers would have been an option for them when Police started using drones in the operations.

Qiliho says they are working with the Ministry of Environment to ensure they do not damage the environment when they spray the drugs.

He says the amount of marijuana uprooted from Kadavu is very concerning as they uprooted plants daily over a two month period.

The Commissioner had earlier confirmed that there is a strong possibility a drone jammer was used to take down a Police drone in Kadavu.

They had sighted four big marijuana farms during a flight when the incident happened.
