Students of Saqani High School in Vanua Levu have been reminded by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka to refrain and avoid the temptation to break the law.

While officiating at the school pass-out parade, Rabuka says he has been hearing bad stories about law-breaking in some of the villages, involving drugs.

He says cadet training has always been part of our school curriculum in the colonial Fiji, independent Fiji and Republican Fiji.

Rabuka says the future of this nation depends on the young generation and how they tackle their everyday lives.

The Prime Minister also commissioned the school’s new dining hall worth $695,000.

School Principal, Isireli Koroituku, acknowledges the support from the government and says that today is a proud moment for the school.

He says their dining hall was damaged by a fire in 2018, and they are thankful that the new hall has all the amenities that were not there before.

He adds that the new hall will also be used as an evacuation centre for the school and neighbouring communities during a natural disaster.
