Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says he has put out a directive that unvaccinated travellers coming to Fiji be put into quarantine and vaccinated.

While speaking to frontliners in Rakiraki and Tavua, Bainimarama says they had found out two weeks ago that an Asian national had travelled to Fiji and was unvaccinated.

Bainimarama says whilst in quarantine he was tested positive for COVID-19.

The Prime Minister says we are worried about the Fijian population getting vaccinated and yet we have some people coming in without getting vaccinated.

He adds they need to come up with protocols and policies with regards to people who come in unvaccinated.

Bainimarama announced on Sunday that Fiji will have a no-jab, no-fly policy.

He made clear that travellers aged 18 years and above must be fully vaccinated with either the Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca or the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccines.

The Prime Minister is on a tour of the Western Division and has been thanking the frontliners for their hard work.
