There are opportunities everywhere to create history in big events such as the Olympics and Team Fiji athletes have the chance to grab these opportunities and make a name for themselves.

Those were the words of Team Fiji Chef de Mission Sale Sorovaki as he talked about the chances of history being created at the Olympics by Team Fiji athletes.

Sorovaki says with changes in times, events and tournaments, there are opportunities that will always come up.

He says there are first-time opportunities for everyone and went on to mention Team Fiji’s 14-year-old swimmer Anahira McCutcheon who has the opportunity to go on and represent Fiji in 5 Olympics since she is going to be an Olympian at that young age.

Sorovaki adds, that in the Men’s Rugby 7s side, Fiji 7s legend Jerry Tuwai has the opportunity to be the first Fijian to win 3 gold medals, coach Osea Kolinisau has the opportunity to be the first Fijian to win two Olympics gold medals as a player and a coach.

Meanwhile, the teams that are now in Paris include the Men’s Rugby 7s side, swimming, athletics, table tennis and taekwondo.

The Women’s Rugby 7s side and the Judoka team will join the rest of the team at the Games Village today.

Team Fiji Sailors Sophia Morgan and Vili Ratulu are based in Marseille and will join the team later next week.

The Paris Olympics will kick off with the football and the rugby 7s competition on Thursday.
