For the first time in its history, Oceania Hospitals (OHPL) is having an interventional camp for congenital heart defects and coronary artery disease (ASD/VSD) on 3rd - 8th March 2024.

Oceania Hospitals is delighted to make this initiative possible, aiming to perform interventional procedures that involve closing heart defects like ASD, VSD, and PDA using small umbrella-like devices.

These procedures offer several benefits, including minimal invasiveness, with no surgical incision or sutures required. The entire intervention can be done through a small puncture in a blood vessel in the patient’s thigh, resulting in lower risk and faster recovery. Patients can typically require 2-3 days of hospital admission only. This innovative and safe procedure is recognized worldwide for its effectiveness.

Oceania Hospitals Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Murgessan Pillay said that this camp provides an outstanding opportunity for patients to receive an international standard of care locally while being closer to family and loved ones. The hospital is fully committed to offering the best at the most affordable costs.

The OHPL Cardiac Camp is for adults and children, and it features a visiting expert Interventional Cardiologist from India.

During the camp, for adult patients advanced screening will be performed to prepare for complicated procedures including implants such as ICD and permanent pacemakers. Additionally, any adult cases, such as ICD/complex angioplasty, can be scheduled during the week.

Any individual showing the following symptoms is strongly encouraged to book an appointment.

Children: Not gaining weight, not feeding well, sweating while feeding, chest pain,

shortness of breath while playing, and recurrent respiratory infections.

Adults: Chest pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, loss of consciousness, too low or too

high heart rate, palpitations.

For appointments and bookings and to avoid long waiting times, please email Oceania Hospitals at info@ohpl.com.fj or call 9924047, 9924598, or 3220151.
