The Fiji Airways Fiji Men’s Development 7s side fell short in the final of the 2024 Oceania 7s tournament and settled for silver after losing 17-12 to Samoa in extra time of the game.

Fiji clawed their way back into the match after being down 12-0 to lock the score at 12-all at fulltime.

They had the chance to clinch the title after Iosefo Namoce scored a try at the stroke of fulltime, but a missed conversion by Solomoni Rauqe proved too costly for them as the game went into extra time.

Samoa broke the hearts of the Fijians with a try in the corner to be crowned the Oceania Men’s 7s champions.

Tonga finished 3rd in the Men’s competition after beating Tuvalu 24-19 in extra time as well.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s are the Women’s champion after beating Samoa 14-5 in the cup final.

Tonga also finished 3rd in the Women’s competition after thrashing the Solomon Islands 41-5 in the 3rd place playoff.
