There is no use offering prayers to Goddesses if people do not respect women in their own homes.

This is the message from the President and Founder of Bhakti Marag Mandali in Navua, Avineshwar Sharma as Hindus will conclude their Navratri prayers today.

Hindus worship and celebrate the nine forms of Goddess Durga during Navratri who destroyed the demon, Mahishasura.

They observe fast, pray and dress according to specific colours associated with each of the nine days.

He says people must respect their mothers, wives and sisters for their sacrifices.

Sharma adds we must save our sons from bad habits.

Sharma is urging families to teach their children cultural respect when they are young to ensure they grow up with moral values.
