Police have launched an investigation after a newborn baby was found inside a sanitary bin in the washroom of a tertiary institution hostel in Lautoka.
The discovery was made yesterday morning by a student who heard the baby crying inside the washroom.
Police say with the help of hostel staff, the baby was retrieved and rushed to Lautoka Aspen Hospital, where he remains admitted in good health.
Investigators are working to identify the baby’s mother and are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 919 or the Western Division Command Centre on 9905 457.
