The call for help by a Naqelelevu villager, which was highlighted on Legend FM News and fijivillage has been answered, and the Government through the Fiji Navy is expected to reach the island with the much needed supplies before this weekend.

Naqelelevu villager, Leonard Loga had called for assistance of food and sanitary supplies as they had run out of all their supplies.

Loga who has been stuck in Suva since the current COVID-19 outbreak started in late April, says his family of seven including a 1-year-old baby, is on the island and they have been suffering from March with limited to no supplies at all.

Naqelelevu Island is located on the North East of Vanua Levu, and is one of the most remote islands.

Loga says the last supply ship that came to the island was in March.

He says right now his family is living on seafood and whatever they can find as they have even run out of baby food and sanitary supplies for their family members.

Loga is thankful for the assistance that has come through.

He says many people have also contacted him to assist with baby food and sanitary supplies while the Fiji Navy through the Government will provide the much-needed food supplies as well.

Meanwhile the commander of the Fiji Navy, Captain Humphrey Tawake says after hearing the needs and request for food from the family on Naqelelevu Island, they contacted one of their patrol boats operating in the area to deliver some food supplies.

Captain Tawake says this is one of the islands where they normally stopover when they are in the North East of Vanua Levu.
