Tourism operator and owner of world renowned Nanuya Island Resort Val Parker, was recently airlifted to Nadi for urgent medical treatment after developing a serious leg infection.

She began feeling unwell last week while at the island. Her leg became swollen and painful, and her condition started to worsen.

She was first treated by a medical facility in Nacula Island. After initial treatment, doctors advised that she needed more advanced care.

Due to her age and the seriousness of her condition, she was airlifted from Nanuya to PSH Hospitals in Nadi.

The infection, identified as cellulitis, had spread to her bloodstream. This made it a high-risk situation that required immediate attention.

She was received by PSH Hospitals medical, who began treatment right away. The treatment plan was targeted and focused on improving the patient’s condition.

The treatment plans and rapid response by the PSH Hospitals medical team ensured quick and smooth recovery.

The infection may have been linked to an old injury. Years ago, she was pricked by a fish spine while in the sea.

Since then, she has had occasional leg flare-ups, especially when tired or stressed. This latest episode was the most serious.

Her daughter, who accompanied her, said she was grateful for the care they received at PSH Hospitals.

‘’I was also relieved to be allowed to stay with my mother during the treatment, which made a difficult time a bit easier,’’ said Debbi Parker.

This was their first experience at PSH Hospitals, and the family said the care, staff, and service exceeded expectations.

They were especially thankful that such a modern and well-equipped hospital was available in Fiji, close to home.

PSH Hospitals was founded to provide high-quality, specialist healthcare for all Fijians.

The hospital’s growth and vision are credited to its Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Parvish Kumar.

Mr Kumar’s mission has always been to make advanced healthcare more accessible and to build trust in local medical services.

Because of his leadership, patients like this elderly woman can get the urgent treatment they need—without leaving the country.

“I believe healthcare is not just about treatment, but about compassion, connection, and community,’’ said Kumar. For more information or booking, email us at booking@psh.com.fj or call us on 892 2241.
