Namosimalua was up to the standard – Ratu Epeli

Speaker of Parliament, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau says the role of Secretary General to Parliament is not for the faint hearted and former Acting Secretary-General to Parliament Viniana Namosimalua was up to the standard and fulfilled the requirements of a functioning parliament up to her last day in office.

Ratu Epeli says Namosimalua led the secretariat to establish the supporting physical and human resource infrastructure that ensured Fiji had a functioning and effective parliament.

He says Namosimalua also established and strengthened strong partnerships with their development partners and they are enjoying its fruits.

Namosimalua's appointment as the Acting Secretary-General to Parliament was not renewed and the Constitutional Offices Commission decided to re-advertise the vacancy.

Speaking at her farewell lunch, Namosimalua says she will miss Ratu Epeli’s skills of turning intense moments into hilarious ones in parliament.

She says it is always a breath of fresh air in a politically charged environment and she will have wonderful memories of working under Ratu Epeli Nailatikau’s leadership.

Namosimalua also acknowledged the support of the Department of Legislature and UNDP Pacific’s Fiji Parliament Support Project staff during her tenure as the Secretary – General.

Namosimalua was farewelled by the Speaker of Parliament and staff of the Department of Legislature and UNDP Pacific’s Fiji Parliament Support Project.
