People in parts of the Central and Western Divisions continue to experience intermittent power outages following damage caused by Category 3 Tropical Cyclone Vaianu.

The outages are linked to damaged transmission lines and fallen Energy Fiji Limited poles.

Fallen EFL poles have been reported along Buabua Road in Lautoka, Nadi Back Road and along Queens Road just before Lomolomo Police Post.

EFL is yet to provide an estimated timeframe for the restoration.

In the Central Division, a resident from Cunningham Stage 1 says their area remains without power despite being informed that restoration works would begin at 8am.

In the Western Division, the majority of residents in Ba are still without electricity since yesterday morning.

The affected areas include Ba Town and nearby communities such as Moto, Nukuloa, Vatulaulau, Yalalevu, Walalai, Votua, Navatu, and other surrounding areas.

Kirat Bali of Varadoli Back Road told fijivillage News that they have been without power since 8am yesterday and were not informed about the outage, even via message.

Bali says there is currently no flooding in his area and nearby communities as weather conditions continue to improve.

Ba businessman Anil Amin says, to his knowledge, the entire town remains without electricity, although water supply has not been significantly affected.

Abhay Sharma of Nabitu, Sigatoka says they also do not have power supply since 6pm yesterday.

EFL is yet to respond.
