Serious concerns are being raised by the residents of Nadawa in Nasinu as there were three incidents that they know of where some youths who appeared to be high on drugs were attempting to rob people in broad daylight.

A concerned resident says Friday morning, a boy came to steal shoes from their house but was thankfully caught by her nephew.

She says in another incident, while her sister was reversing her car out of their driveway, a youth grabbed her phone and ran.

The woman says that on Friday evening, while she and her sister were at their neighbourhood shop, a boy got into a woman’s car and searched her things.

She says the woman caught him in the act and threw him out of the car.

The woman says most of these boys are not from her area and seem to be using methamphetamine.

While responding to the concerns, Divisional Police Commander South, Senior Superintendent of Police, Wate Vocevoce says the Nadawa area has been relatively quiet as far as serious crimes are concerned.

He says they encourage reports to be lodged to investigate the alleged incidents as there are regular patrols conducted in the area and throughout the Southern Division.

Meanwhile, the resident says after raising concerns, they have been assured by the police that the area will be patrolled.

She says they have also been given phone numbers of the officers to contact if there are other such incidents.
