One lucky punter is NZ$10 million richer after pulling off a remarkable feat during this year’s The Everest race.

A sports betting company promotion on the world’s richest race on turf gave customers a free bet to correctly predict the finishing order of all 12 horses in The Everest.

After 67 seconds of racing, the Auckland-based man won NZ$10 million after defying the odds by correctly guessing the order.

The winner says he’s absolutely blown away.

He says he saw the promotion on the New Zealand TAB site and thought he would give it a crack.

The winner says he didn’t put too much thought into his picks and just dropped the runners where he thought it could go.

He actually thought it was a hoax when they first rang him – he called the TAB back, and it took quite a lot of convincing before it sank in.

He came across the promotion by chance, after discovering it while putting a bet on the Rugby World Cup.

The winner says to have pulled it off, winning NZ$10 million in a free-to-play competition, is truly incredible for his family.
