Minister for Education Premila Kumar.

Minister for Education Premila Kumar has revealed that most schools around the country have completed their syllabus for Year 12 and 13 and students have 9 weeks to prepare for their exams.

She highlighted this during her visit to Adi Cakobau School this morning.

Year 12 and 13 students will sit for exams on 17th January which will go on for two weeks.

She says students are nervous because they feel they have little time to prepare for the exams but 9 weeks is good enough for revision.

The Minister says what teachers basically have to do is work with the students on the subjects they need help in.

While speaking to the teachers, Kumar has urged them to treat the students like their friends because they have returned to school after 195 days and a lot has changed.

She says it should not be a typical teacher-student relationship and teachers may need to step out of that role so that students can open up to them.

She adds teachers should not be closing the door on the students.

Kumar has also urged teachers to encourage students to get vaccinated because that is the way forward.
