Minister for Education Premila Kumar.

Minister for Education Premila Kumar has acknowledged the work of all the teachers in the country who worked hard to assist students with schools still closed due to COVID-19.

Speaking on World Teachers Day, Kumar says there have been many unsung heroes during this pandemic and they applaud the work of the frontliners but adds teachers are our COVID warriors as well.

She says our teachers did everything they could to prevent learning loss.

Kumar says she is grateful that many of them have readily embraced changes by working harder than ever to do their job in a totally new setting that required them to turn to new methods of teaching and overcome its challenges.

She says teachers have been living up to this year’s theme of being at the heart of the recovery.

Kumar adds the contribution of teachers will have a huge impact on the future of the country’s economy.
