The upcoming Mini International Women’s 7s tournament that will be held here in Fiji has come at a perfect time for the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team ahead of their preparation for the upcoming Pacific Games and the Oceania 7s tournament which is the Paris Olympic qualification.

While speaking to fijivillage News, coach Saiasi Fuli says this mini-tournament is good for their preparation as they are going to use this tournament to select two National sides for the upcoming tournaments.

He says it is also great for these new players as they can be exposed here against the top teams in the world before they play on the world stage

Fuli says there are 10 new players in the current 30-member training squad and it is good that they have a lot of young players coming through from the ANZ Marama Championship, the Raluve championship and the local 7s tournaments so the coaching group are just now trying to develop these players and transit them into the international environment.

There will be two Mini International Women’s 7s tournaments, the first will be held at Albert Park from the 22nd to the 23rd of this month followed by the second tournament that will be held at Churchill Park in Lautoka from the 28th to the 29th of this month.

The tournament will have Australia, New Zealand, USA, France and Fiji competing in it.
