The upcoming Fiji Bitter Mataso Nakorovou 7s has provided the opportunity for teams that have been unable to participate in major 7s tournaments in Fiji to battle against top 7s teams around the country and prove their worth in the local 7s scene.

In an interview with fijivillage News, tournament organiser Sivaniolo Nayacatabu says they are grateful to Fiji Bitter for sponsoring this tournament as this is another way of exposing unknown talents.

Nayacatabu says this is another way of contributing to the development of grassroots rugby in Fiji by sponsoring these types of minor 7s tournaments, making it big and recognisable.

He says preparations by the tournament committee are going really well and they expect a good turnout from the spectators and supporters.

Nayacatabu says all the spots have been filled in all the categories and fans should expect some great local 7s rugby for the two-day tournament.

He says defending champions Police Blue will be a team to watch this year as they will be coming out in full force to defend their title but that does not take away the fact that some of these big teams as well are coming into this tournament to win the title.

The Fiji Bitter Mataso Nakorovou 7s will be held next Friday and Saturday at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
