The Marist Brothers’ High School’s Basketball teams have preferred the underdog tags heading into the Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Basketball National Championship that will be held from tomorrow until Saturday at the Lautoka Multipurpose Court.

In an interview with fijivillage News, team manager Piniana Kuboutawa says they are heading into this competition with the hopes of playing to the expectations of their fans and their families, especially the old scholars.

Kuboutawa says most of the players have been playing for their respective clubs weekly and have been gaining enough game times.

When asked if any players have been on the radar to be scouted by overseas clubs, Kuboutawa says at the moment, there has been none so far.

She is calling on all Marist supporters to come out in numbers to support their team that will be participating in this competition.

Marist will be fielding 6 teams for this competition with 2 teams in every grade from under 15 to under 19.

The competition will begin tomorrow with the first game between Yat Sen Secondary School and Marist 2 in the U19 grade at 9am.
