A farmer in his late 40s is in police custody following the death of a man residing at Nagata Settlement in Labasa.
Police say early Thursday morning, the man was found heavily intoxicated outside a nightclub in Labasa, and Police escorted the man to his home.
They say, during the day, the victim started to develop breathing difficulties and was taken to the Labasa Hospital by family members, where the man passed away a few minutes later.
The farmer is alleged to have assaulted the victim causing injuries that resulted in his death.
Police investigations continue.
