A 25-year-old man has been charged with allegedly causing the death of his 3-year-old daughter at their residence in Lomolomo, Lautoka, last week.
Police say the initial report received at the Lautoka Police Station was that the girl had sustained serious injuries as a result of a fall at their residence.
However, further investigation by the Criminal Investigations Department revealed that the girl’s death was allegedly caused by injuries inflicted by the accused.
Police add that the 25-year-old has been charged with one count of murder and one count of assault causing actual bodily harm.
They say the accused remains in remand, with his case transferred to the Lautoka High Court, to be called again on the 13th of this month.
