A 52-year-old man is in police custody after he allegedly assaulted his wifeunder the influence of alcohol yesterday morning in their Delainavesi home.
Police say the woman sustained injuries and was conveyed to the Lami Health Centre and later transferred to the CWM Hospital where she remains admitted.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Livai Driu says cases like these are a sad reminder that the excessive consumption of alcohol has serious consequences.
He reminds people to drink responsibly and in moderation.
