Apisai Madigibuli, who allegedly killed his wife at an apartment complex along Robertson Road in Suva in April last year, has maintained that he will be representing himself in court.

Madigibuli appeared before Suva High Court Judge Justice Dane Tuiqereqere this morning.

He is charged with one count of murder.

Madigibuli also applied for bail and has also requested to redo the pre-trial conference.

He says he had requested his Legal Aid lawyer to make the application, but that was not followed through.

Justice Tuiqereqere says he will have to give some thought to it as he has to ensure his rights are protected.

He expressed his displeasure at the Legal Aid Commission for not being in court today, as they were supposed to be as a friend of the court.

Justice Tuiqereqere says he will make sure that Legal Aid is in court to help with legal matters.

The matter has been adjourned to 26th August for a bail hearing.
