The Macuata Women’s Rugby Team is preparing to face Tavua in the upcoming semi final of the Royal Tea Ranadi Cup with determination, despite facing significant challenges off the field.

Speaking to fijivillage Sport, coach Motu Lalagavesi praised her team for their strong performance in last week’s quarter final, describing every match as a final and importance of teamwork.

Lalagavesi says the team has been working hard to improve key areas such as defence and attack after reviewing their recent game against Malolo.

Macuata defeated Malolo 41-34.

She adds that training conditions remain difficult, as the women only have access to a small park rather than a proper rugby field, and they lack gym facilities and equipment.

Lalagavesi explained that unlike other teams, they do not have the same resources, with only cones and balls available for training.

Despite these obstacles, she said the team’s spirit remains strong, driven by faith and a belief in their collective ability to succeed. Lalagavesi expressed confidence that the players will give their all in the upcoming semi final.

Macuata will face Tavua at 11am on Tuesday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
