The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s team survived a scare to beat France 26-19 and keep their hopes alive of playing in the cup quarterfinals of the Singapore 7s.

A loss for Fiji would have seen them knocked out of the cup competition after being beaten 21-12 by Ireland in their opening match.

Vuiviawa Naduvalo was the star for Fiji after scoring two tries in the second half.

Waisea Nacuqu and Joseva Talacolo scored the other tries for Fiji.

France led 12-7 at the break.

Fiji will now have to beat Japan in their final pool match at 8.22 tonight to qualify for the quarters.

In other matches, France beat Japan 36-14, Scotland defeated Wales 26-24, New Zealand edged Argentina 12-10, England beat Spain 19-14, Australia defeated Samoa 26-17 and USA edged Kenya 12-10.

The cup quarterfinals will kick off at 4.28pm tomorrow, semis will start at 8.13pm while the final will be played at 11.28pm tomorrow.
