A woman in her 40s has passed away following a three-car collision along Kings Road near Viwa, Korovou in Tailevu.
Police say it is alleged that the suspect, a student in his 20s, collided head-on with the vehicle the victim was travelling in while overtaking another vehicle.
Police say as a result of the impact, a third vehicle was also involved, resulting in a three-car collision.
The victim sustained serious injuries, which led to her death at the scene of the accident, while the six other victims, including the drivers, were rushed to Korovou Hospital where they were treated.
Police say investigations are ongoing, and the driver will be brought in for questioning soon.
As more unfavourable weather is forecast for the country, the Fiji Police Force is again urging drivers to practice safe driving to avoid accidents.
