Lelean Memorial School has received a major boost with the opening of a brand-new gymnasium, expected to enhance not just students’ academic experience, but also their physical development and good sportsmanship.

During the opening, Minister for Rural and Maritime Development, Sakiasi Ditoka says the fully equipped gymnasium is stocked with equipment valued at $80,000.

It also includes changing rooms with showers and toilets for both boys and girls.

Ditoka is also urging students, teachers, parents, alumni and nearby residents to protect, maintain and ensure the gym becomes a space filled with meaningful learning.

Meanwhile, Lelean Assistant Principal, Ulaiyasi Vakatawakoula says the new facility will greatly assist students, as the school previously lacked fully equipped training facilities.

The gym is named after the King of Sevens, Waisale Serevi.
