There are preliminary works underway for the acquisition of land in Koronivia, for the relocation of the Nabua Muslim League residents.

Minister for Housing, Maciu Nalumisa stated this to the media outside Parliament, saying his Ministry is talking to landowners if there is any land available.

Nalumisa says once they come up with a deal, the Lands Ministry will come in and acquire the land, then development on the land will begin.

Meanwhile, during the parliament session, Nalumisa also stated that families who had been evicted from Nabua Muslim League will soon be able to access grant assistance of $50,000 to construct their first home and $30,000 to purchase their first home under a new pilot programme, First Home Grant Assistance Prohramme for Low-Income Earners and Evicted Families, proposed by the Ministry of Housing.

He says this will also focus on families with a combined household income of $30,000 residing in other areas where eviction notices have been issued.
