Lack of water in South Taveuni, lack of maintenance of roads and theft of crops raised as major concerns - Ditoka

Minister Sakiasi Ditoka

Lack of water in South Taveuni, lack of maintenance of roads and theft of crops such as dalo and yaqona have been raised as major concerns by advisory councillors in Taveuni.

During his Taveuni tour, Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management Sakiasi Ditoka says they will have a meeting with the farmers and other stakeholders on Friday on ways to fix these issues.

He says every individual has an opportunity to create products, progress the economy and contribute to the Gross Domestic Product. The Minister also visited the Mua Solar Farm project in Taveuni which is expected to provide electricity to more than 500 households after its completion.

Ditoka says there are a total of 2,880 solar panels with each panel producing 370 watts of electricity.

He says this initiative is sponsored by the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) which is also working in collaboration with the Fiji Government through the Energy Fiji Limited.
