The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s kicked off their HSBC Cape Town 7s campaign on a low after they were walloped 31-0 by the USA Women’s 7s in their first pool match tonight.

Indiscipline proved too costly for Fiji as they received two yellow cards in both halves with the USA capitalising on their 1 player advantage to score tries.

The USA took a comfortable 12-0 lead at halftime after winger Nia Toliver scored two tries and 1 conversion.

They scored a further 3 tries through Kaylen Thomas and Alyssa Porter who also scored a double, with Kayla Canett converting two tries for the win.

Fiji did not manage to score any points as the USA held their ground in defence.

The Fijiana’s second pool match will be against Great Britain at 10.16pm tonight.

Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Fiji Men’s 7s side will take on Uruguay at 12.38am tomorrow before playing Great Britain in their second pool match at 4.19am tomorrow.
