Messi wins first major title with Argentina

Lionel Messi’s wait for his first major title with Argentina is over as the side beat Brazil 1-0 to win the Copa America this afternoon.

Angel Di Maria scored the only goal of the match in the first half.

This was Argentina’s first title since they won the tournament way back in 1993.

The win also sees captain Lionel Messi lift his first major tournament with Argentina after years of heartbreak.

The 34 year old has been in the losing side with Argentina in their last four finals.

This includes three Copa America finals and the 2014 FIFA World Cup final.
