The collaboration between Fiji’s current hit-maker Apakuki “Kuki” Nalawa, New Zealand-born Samoan artist Canaan Ene and world-renowned Jamaican reggae artist Conkarah for the newly released single “Fijian Lewa” was inspired by the big plans they have in place that will be coming in at the end of the year.

During an interview with the FM96 Crackfast Show team, Kuki mentioned that they had a discussion and thought to do a collaboration before they launch the plan that they will be revealing soon.

Kuki says he had written the song straight after the COVID-19 pandemic, and he later made a mix of the song before sending it to Canaan and everything started from there on.

Conkarah says this is the first time for him to collaborate with any Fijian artist and he really enjoyed it.

He says this is an amazing opportunity which he really loves especially collaborating with two of the Pacific’s up-and-coming artists who are making waves with their music.

Canaan says collaborating with Kuki has really helped in his growth and has opened up the market, especially in New Zealand and around the world.

He says it is also amazing to see not only Fijians in NZ playing Fijian songs like “IO” and “Ciri Yawa” but also people of different races driving past in their cars and listening to these songs.
