Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s coach Osea Kolinisau has labelled his team’s 9th-place finish in the HSBC Singapore 7s over the weekend as disappointing and says they need to go back and ask themselves if they executed what they were planning to do.

Kolinisau says they need to ask themselves some hard questions and that is something they will take with them.

He says the players failed to stick to their game plan and it proved too costly for them seeing them finishing off in 9th place.

He adds their performance in the Singapore 7s went downhill after their first two losses in their pool matches against the USA and Great Britain.

The former Fiji 7s captain says the 7s game played nowadays is a mental one and the boys were not focusing from the start of the tournament.

He says this is something they will work on ahead of the Madrid 7s.

The Fiji Men’s 7s have been drawn in a tough pool and are in Pool B alongside NZ, Ireland and South Africa. In Pool A, league winners Argentina is pooled alongside Australia, France and Great Britain.

In the Women’s category, the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s side will be in Pool B with Australia, France and Ireland.

NZ, Canada, the USA and Great Britain are in Pool A.

The Madrid 7s will only feature 8 teams, divided into two pools and will be held from the 31st of May to the 2nd of June.
