The Australian Women's football side is through to the semi finals of the FIFA Women's World Cup following a thrilling 7-6 penalty shootout victory over number 13-ranked Denmark.

Both teams were locked at 0-all after extra time.

But what was the most standout scene was that it's not just in Australia where there was celebration all around.

Just outside of Port Moresby, a little village called Kira Kira, the birthplace of Matildas star Mary Fowler's mother Nido, as well as her uncle, Rabura Geita, had decorated its streets green and yellow to support Fowler and her team.

Geita says the village was full of excitement and says because of Fowler, the whole village is involved in watching her games.

He says all the houses in their village have flat screens as the whole village is involved in supporting Mary (Fowler).

Meanwhile, in another match yesterday, England beat Colombia 2-1.
