High Court Judge, Justice Riyaz Hamza has found a man guilty of raping his grandniece in Nasinu.

The man has been convicted of two counts of rape, one count of sexual assault and one count of attempted rape.

The incident happened between 2018 and 2019.

It was heard in court the man is the brother of the girl’s grandmother.

Justice Hamza says it is in his opinion that the complainant’s evidence can be accepted as truthful, credible and reliable adding there was absolutely no reason for her to make up this story against the man.

The man had stated in court that the allegations against him were false and it was due to the fact that the girl and her family wanted him to leave the house, since it was a small house and the house was crowded.
