Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi

As India celebrates a historic milestone of administering more than a billion doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, the country’s recovery rate stands at 98.15% which is currently at its highest peak since March last year.

Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi congratulated Indians and expressed gratitude to the country’s scientific community and health professionals for working towards achieving this stupendous feat.

The Indian High Commission in a statement says the recovery of 17,561 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recovered patients in India to more than 33 million.

They say sustained and collaborative efforts by the Government of India and the various States continue the trend of less than 50,000 daily new cases that is being reported for 116 consecutive days now.

The High Commission says testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded where in the last 24 hours saw a total of 12,047,506 tests being conducted.

The daily positivity rate is reported to be 1.48%.
