Defending champions Labasa and hosts Suva have both suffered shock defeats on the opening day of the Courts IDC at the ANZ Stadium.

In the first match, giant killers Nasinu stunned a star-studded Suva 1-0 with Solomon Islander Marlon Tahioa scoring the winning goal in the 36th minute.

Both teams missed several opportunities to score with Nasinu goalkeeper Epeli Loani-ceva making a number of crucial saves to deny Suva.

In the second match, Navua beat defending champions Labasa 1-0 with veteran striker Apisai Smith scoring the winning goal in the second half.

Speaking to Fijivillage, Navua coach Mohammed Shafil says beating a champion team like Labasa is always tough and he is pleased that the players stuck to the game plan.

Meanwhile Ba and Nadi are currently locked at 0-0 in the first half while Rewa takes on Lautoka at 7pm.
