Higher Education Commission Fiji CEO, Dr. Rohit Kishore speaks to the media

The Higher Education Commission Fiji will be hosting their inaugural Higher Education Careers Expo 2023 from the 16th to the 19th of October at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.

Higher Education Commission Fiji CEO, Dr. Rohit Kishore says the theme is “Empowering Your Higher Education To Employment and Entrepreneurship”.

Dr. Kishore says they will have the University of the South Pacific, Fiji National University, technical colleges like Montfort Boys Town, Fulton College, Pacific Polytech, and Sangam College of Nursing.

The CEO says the planned exhibition provides the opportunity for school students, youths seeking employment, higher education institutions, government agencies, employers, and the general public to interact in this one central hub.

He says it is their hope that the career pathways for our future generations are curated towards embracing their passions while simultaneously addressing existing and future skills gaps.

Dr. Kishore says they are doing this together with the Ministry of Education and this gives students a chance to see what is really there.

He says while he knows the students have been getting counseling from their career teachers and the universities, but to get a feel for the jobs market, the people who really matter in terms of employing them will be another experience.
