A heavy rain alert is now in force for the Eastern half of Viti Levu including, Navua-Suva-Nausori,Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Serua-Namosi, the Northern Division, the Yasawa group, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.
The Nadi Weather Office says a trough of low pressure lies over the eastern parts of the group and is expected to gradually strengthen tomorrow.
They say associated cloud and rain are expected to affect parts of the group until Monday.
The Office says possible impacts include flash flooding of flood-prone, low-lying informal settlements and communities, businesses and Irish Crossings leading to traffic disruptions.
They add this could also result in surface flooding on streets in urban areas with poor drainage; wet roads and reduced visibility, especially during heavy downpours, increasing the risk of road accidents.
