A Heavy Rain Warning remains in force for Viti Levu, the Northern Division, Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, while a Flash Flood Warning continues to be in force for the low-lying and flood-prone areas across Viti Levu, Vanua Levu and Taveuni.

A Heavy Rain Alert is in force for the rest of the Fiji group while a Flood Alert is in force for low-lying and flood-prone areas adjacent and downstream of the Wainibuka and Wainimala Rivers.

The water level at Nayavu station (Wainibuka River) was 0.43m above alert level at 2pm today.

High tide is at around 4am tomorrow morning.

A Strong Wind Warning remains in force for the land areas of Yasawa, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, coastal Rakiraki, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, and southern Viti Levu including Sigatoka to Navua area.

A Strong Wind Warning remains in force for all Fiji waters.

The Nadi Weather Office says an active trough of low pressure associated with a Tropical Disturbance 05F, affects the Fiji group and is expected to continue to have an impact on the Fiji Group till Thursday.

This system is forecast to bring occasional to persistent periods of rain, heavy at times, along with a possibility of thunderstorms over the Fiji group.

They say with water-saturated ground conditions, high river levels and anticipated rain, the risk of flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas is high.

Rainfall activity could become intense overnight or early morning as air is generally cooler at night, and cool air holds less moisture than warm air resulting in rainfall while afternoon and evening thunderstorms with heavy rain are also possible.

A significant amount of rainfall has been recorded in parts of the country in the past 24 hours, especially in the Central Division.

RKS, Lodoni registered 120mm of rainfall between 9am yesterday to 9am today, followed by Navolau with 84mm and Lomaivuna with 75 mm.
