A heavy rain alert remains in force for the eastern half of Viti Levu, covering areas from Serua-Namosi to Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, as well as the Lau and Lomaiviti Groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.
The Nadi Weather Office says that localised heavy rain may lead to flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
They say that there will be cloudy periods with some showers and isolated thunderstorms and the showers are expected to increase to rain and become occasional, with isolated heavy rain and thunderstorms from later today.
They add that a trough located to the north of Fiji is expected to intensify and move south towards the group from later today, which is likely to enhance the easterly wind flow over Fiji.
The Weather Office also says that a strong wind warning remains in force for the land areas of the Lau and Lomaiviti Groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, as well as Taveuni and nearby islands.
People can expect strong southeasterly winds with wind speeds of up to 45 km/hr.
