19-year-old Tikiko Tavualevu

The Army Boxing Team confirms that a new boxer to the club this year is 19-year-old Tikiko Tavualevu, who is part of Inspire Pacific's Tagane Mai Program and featured on fijivillage Straight Talk With Vijay Narayan.

He will be competing in the 88kg heavyweight category.

This was confirmed by Head Coach Alfred Ledua, who is preparing the team for next week's challenge against Police in the Ratu Sukuna Bowl Competition.

He says the team continues to use its motivational quote for the season, “Hard work beats talent.”

Ledua further says his focus for Tikiko and the rest of the boys has been on discipline, teamwork, and hard work.

He adds that his expectation is for the boys to be happy throughout the three days of competition.

Ledua says he cannot name every challenge they are going through, but the boys know them and will show how they overcome these challenges during the competition.

He emphasizes that the team is not focused on names, backgrounds, or past championships, but on the belief that anything may be expected this year.

The Army Boxing Team will face Police in three days of competitive boxing from next Monday to Wednesday at the Fiji Police Academy.

The bouts start at 2pm.
