Handful of people protest during Fiji Day celebrations in Sydney

As hundreds of Fijians gathered to celebrate Fiji Day in Sydney earlier today, a handful of people were seen protesting at a ground.

They were timing the protest as Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama attended the Fiji Day celebrations in Sydney earlier today.

Some former Fiji citizens said some of the protesters left the scene after finding out that Fijian Immigration officials were also in Sydney.

It is understood some of them are overstaying in Australia while some residents say the protest was being organised by Oni Kirwan.

Kirwan was allegedly assisting the rebel group in Ra.

Bainimarama said he could not hear the protesters as they were quite far away.

Meanwhile hundreds of people with connections to Fiji enjoyed the Fiji Day celebrations with Bainimarama and his wife, Mary today.
