People turned out in numbers at the Muanikau Backyard Bazaar held at Veiuto Primary School, where community members showcased and sold fresh produce, homemade goods, baked treats, plants, crafts and second-hand items.
Muanikau Community Watch Group Chairman William Parkinson says the Backyard Bazaar was not about fundraising, but about bringing the community together in a relaxed, neighbourly setting.
He says the idea was to allow residents of Muanikau and nearby areas to sell produce from their backyards, homemade kitchen goods, and second-hand items, while also creating an opportunity for neighbours to connect.
Parkinson says turnout had been steady since the morning, noting that the seaside venue at Veiuto Primary School provided a vibrant setting with strong community support and a wide variety of stalls.

Sai Prema Foundation and Diabetes Fiji Inc are also conducting health checks including blood sugar tests, blood pressure screening, height and weight measurements, and BMI assessments.
