The Suva Grammar School under 18 side proved once again today that they are a force to be reckoned with in this year’s Vodafone Secondary Schools Super Deans Competition after beating defending champions Marist Brothers High School 7-5 to claim the Corerega Sports Trophy at the Marist grounds today.

The match went down to the wire with Grammar scoring their try just before halftime to take a 7-0 lead.

Marist came back in the second spell to score a try but missed the conversion to trail 7-5.

The hosts missed some opportunities to steal the game but kicking at goal was their downfall today.

Grammar coach, Jim Rakise says he was proud of how his players played today.

He says even though there were a lot of errors today, they will continue to learn from their mistakes and try and keep getting better every week.

The Corerega Sports trophy together with $100 for each best player prize money is given to assist the future talented young players in both schools.

The best players also receive an NRL Bulldogs Academy cap and polo shirt.

It was also a clean sweep for the Grammar teams that took on Marist.

In other matches at the Marist grounds today:

Under 14 : Marist 12-14 SGS Under 15: Marist 42-3 Nasinu Secondary. Under 16: SGS 28-20 Marist Under 17: MGM High School 44-0 Ratu Latianara College, SGS 29-5 Marist

Under 19: Marist 22-17 Lomary
