Around 500 people attended the Suva Grammar School 90s decade party tonight, kicking off the school’s 65th Sapphire Anniversary celebrations.

Organiser Dorothy Blakelock says she was relieved the event came together smoothly, crediting the support of fellow organiser Juliet Tuqa and the 90s committee.

She says that as of 6pm, they had sold more than 300 tickets, with additional tickets sold at the door.

Blakelock added that the bus ride brought back strong memories of the 90s, when it was the most popular form of entertainment for students.

The 90s alumni were the first decade group to open the weeklong celebrations, which will culminate in the Sapphire Jubilee Ball on Saturday.
