Minister for Policing and Communications Ioane Naivalurua, together with Permanent Secretary Berenado Daveta, have received a detailed progress briefing from the National Taskforce to Address Pornography, marking a further step in Fiji’s work to protect children from online harm.

Naivalurua acknowledges the significant work already carried out by the Taskforce and reaffirmed the Government’s strong commitment to safeguarding children from online exploitation.

He says a coordinated and multi-agency approach is essential to effectively address Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (OCSEA) and to reduce risks faced by vulnerable groups.

The Minister encourages the Working Groups to maintain momentum and continue strengthening engagement with key stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive and sustained national response to OCSEA.

During the briefing, representatives from the Survivor Support, Empowerment, Society and Culture Working Group, and the Industry and Technology Response Working Group outlined ongoing initiatives under the Taskforce’s first workstream, which prioritizes the fight against OCSEA.

The Secretariat also presented the Taskforce’s mandate, structure, and achievements to date.

Both Working Groups highlighted current activities, emerging challenges, and planned interventions aimed at strengthening Fiji’s national response to OCSEA and improving protection for vulnerable communities.
