The coalition government is dedicated to retaining skilled healthcare workers within the country by improving working conditions and ensuring competitive remuneration.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad highlighted this while speaking to the staff of Tavua Hospital during his western tour.

Professor Prasad says they have recognised the challenges that healthcare workers face in delivering quality service to the community and therefore the government has made a substantial increase in the health budget by $15 million.

He further says they are also addressing concerns regarding the availability of critical consumables and medicines in hospitals and stressed that there should be no excuses for the government not being able to supply these essentials.

He also acknowledged the dedicated efforts of the medical staff and engaged in a constructive dialogue with nurses and doctors as they are committed to prioritising healthcare services in the country.

He adds that the government is committed to ensuring a consistent and reliable supply chain for healthcare facilities across the country.
