God loves children the most.

This is the sentiment shared by the Minister for Education, Viliame Gavoka, as thousands of families celebrate Palm Sunday.

Gavoka says the central message for Palm Sunday is God loves children the most, and in the Christian calendar, a special day is set aside, where children in unison, shout Hosanna to the King of Kings.

He says as the children surrendered to Jesus in the temple, Jesus proclaimed that the kingdom of God belongs to the children and those who have the purest of hearts, like them.

The Permanent Secretary for Education, Selina Kuruleca, shared that this day reminds us of Jesus’ humility and his willingness to fulfil God’s plan, which shows that true greatness lies in serving others with love and respect.

Kuruleca says as we commemorate Palm Sunday, we must teach our children about the significant teachings of Jesus, and we all should renew our commitment to follow him and embrace his character of compassion, forgiveness, and above all, love.

She adds these should be reflected in our daily actions.

Assistant Minister Vanawalu says Palm Sunday reminds us that every child has potential.

He says we need to never cease to guide and encourage the little ones in our lives, and as we celebrate this day, let us also remember our responsibility to create an environment that fosters growth and happiness for every child.
